 Reports are sketchy on the entity known as "Dan". Originally human, he was born and raised in the city of Rochester, the Land of 10,000 Geese. This environment of corporate-controlled order and media thought-control had an unusual effect on his mind. One way it expressed itself was in his taste for the eldritch secrets found in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Upon moving to Mankato, he enrolled in the not-so-illustrious college there. Several years spent in the grossly-liberal atmosphere of the institution increased his knowledge tenfold and generally irritated him. Afterwards, he continued to live in that town of verdant hills and dark valleys, haunted by the winds. An abysmal job market finally drove him from his bright, green home back to the dull, stone-gray monoliths of Rochester. It was then he finally reached fruition as a keen observer and an ardent iconoclast. In knowledge, he is a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. His experiences gained him unusual areas of expertise, foremost among them being art and military science.
Some say it was during a black night, riddled by heat lightning of unusual color and ferocity. Others claim it was while watching a John Woo film. Whenever it occurred, he transcended (or descended) into a new state of consciousness. No longer human, he walks among us, a benevolent and ever-shifting entity of thought and memory. If you encounter him, do not be fooled by his ordinary appearance. He will tell you that everyone has this potential within to be greater, that no one is "merely" human.
