H. P. Lovecraft is perhaps the best American short story writer, let alone one of the best horror writers in the English language. Along with Poe, he set the standards that all future horror writers had to meet. His eloquent, meaty prose still holds a mesmerizing power over readers. His tales carefully detail the unnamable, the bizarre, and the insane in his unique, rich language.
Below you will find a list of Lovecraft's tales. Click on the title to see a page dedicated to the tale; you will find summaries and commentary (no spoilers), and perhaps some other miscellaneous information (for instance, "Herbert West -- Re-Animator" includes some commentary on the film Re-Animator and its sequel). Not all are linked; I will be adding a few at a time. If you have any commentary or information to add, please write the web minion.
