Rating: Five shoggoths out of five
Nutshell: A gentleman moves into his ancestors' castle in England and gradually notices a rodent problem. Commentary: I have a special fondness for this story in particular, since it was the first Lovecraft tale I ever read. It is a fine little masterpiece of storytelling, sure to please even the most jaded of horror readers. This tale also serves as one of the best examples of Lovecraft's talent for bringing madness to life through prose. |
