Film Details:
Directed by Lucio Fulci Written by Elisa Briganti (story), Lucio Fulci, Giorgio Mariuzzo, and Dardano Sacchetti Starring Also starring Review: by Don (e-mail your faithful reviewer) A family moves into a house so that the Husband can continue the research of a dead colleague. Unbeknownst to them a zombie lives in the basement. Wackiness ensues. Okay, Fulci is good. Let's just get that out of the way right now. He makes some good movies that I happen to enjoy. New York Ripper is good and scary and gory. Zombie is a lot of fun. House by the Cemetery is, well... it has its moments. The sound effects are really good, with the creepy rusty-nails-coming-out-of-wood sounds and all. However, he just seems to lose track of the plot... which is weird because, you know, three writers. It kind of wanders around without ever really getting anywhere. There's a psychic little girl, there's a dead guy, an undead guy, and a lot of things that never really get explained. On the other hand, there are some wicked nasty kill scenes. If you like gore for the sake of gore, I recommend this as good drunken party viewing material. (If you can get past the little boy's horrible, horrible dubbed voice, it's actually quite amusing.) If you like plot, skip it. I can say that if these poor people had just had ZOMBIE ALERT, this would have been a much different film. "Time to hook up the Zombie Alert." WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP! "Honey, get my shotgun and a crowbar, there's a zombie in the basement." DVD Details: No features to speak of. Further Information: |
